Webinar Recording - Individual Viewing

It is often said that once a person begins to understand Lean Principles, they will never look at the world the same way again. Lean provides a new perspective, like looking at our work and the world around us through a new set of Lean Lenses.

This webinar is based on an “Introduction to Lean Construction, Seeing the World Through Lean Lenses” workshop originally developed to onboard new members of the Northern California LCI Community of Practice. Those materials are now expanded and updated for this webinar to cover a brief overview of what is different about Lean Thinking, and then, using pictures and videos from actual projects, develop the participant’s ability to see waste and apply Lean Principles to improve productivity. Topics will include:

  • A quick introduction to Lean as an Operations Strategy
  • The 5 Principles of Lean that must be understood
  • The 10 classic types of Waste: 8 types of “Muda”, plus “Mura” and “Muri”
  • How to apply “Depth and Breadth Perception” to design and project
  • Lots of participatory review of real project examples – how to see waste and pursue root cause identification
  • Suggestions and examples of what you can do to develop and apply your new Lean Lenses
